League Change to NCYFL

At the highest level, this change means that away games will be a further drive. Some home games may be at a neutral location so neither team has to drive as far.

Practices, camp, and similar will still be at Glacier Peak HS, Valley View MS, and local venues.

Our typical season schedule will be essentially the same. We will run camp in late July the week before practice starts. Practices will be 4x/week until school starts, then 3x//week. Jamboree will be in mid-to-late August. The season will be 8 games (potential bye) plus championships.

Here's a few additional changes you'll see:

• Morning games start with the oldest players instead of the youngest. This means our schedule will look something like 9am Seniors, 11am Juniors 1pm Bantams, 3pm PeeWees. Actual game schedule will vary, though, based on number of teams and opponents at a given location.
• Players will have weigh-ins before games to confirm they're still within the limits. Not all players will need to be weighed every game, but this is additional time coaches will need to account for.
• Players not attending a particular game need to let their coach know ahead of time. Due to rules that each player must participate, coaches must report any players that will be late and/or not in attendance at weigh-in.
• Paper copies of some paperwork. NCYFA requires certain paperwork to be kept with paper copies. This includes medical release forms and code of conducts signed by all players and parents. Please look for additional information as we near the season.

This is still an open question, more information will be provided as soon as we have clarity.

Weight limit is only a positional limitation.

NCYFL has positional weight limits for PeeWees (110 lbs), Midgets (130 lbs), and Juniors (170 lbs). No weight limits apply for the Seniors.

If your player is over the weight limit, they may still play! However, they are limited to playing on the line, with a maximum of 5 weight limited on the field at any time. They may also choose to play "up" to avoid the weight limit. If you want your player to play up, be sure to contact the registrar as soon as possible after you register due to team size limits.

The player's age as of June 1, 2024 is used for determining their team level. For exceptions, see next question.

All returning players may still play. If you get blocked during registration, please reach out to the registrar.

New players should reach out, it is at the organization's discretion to have younger players. We want to make sure your player is ready to play tackle football.

Players may play "up" a level if desired. Player, parents/guardians, and coach should be in agreement. Please contact the registrar as soon as possible after registering due to team size limits.

Reasons for playing up include the positional weight limits and/or players that have summer birthdays wishing to continue playing with their team from last year.

NCYFL permits playdowns only in very limited circumstances. If you have a reason for considering a playdown, please reach out to the registrar.

While NCYFL is age-based for dividing teams, players in high school are not eligible to play. Only 8th graders and below may play with GPFYA.

Per NCYFL guidelines, our players must:

Attend school in Snohomish School District

OR

Live in Snohomish School District

OR

Receive approval from NCYFL to play for GPYFA.

For those that played for GPYFA in 2023, our hope is that we will be able to receive approval for your player to continue playing with us.

Please make sure you have a Washington State (or other state) official copy of your child's birth certificate. Be sure it is issued by the State and not the hospital (these are memorial certificates only).
